Dr. Sarah Walker leads the AFOLU Climate Change Mitigation Technical Assistance Program at Winrock International. Dr. Walker is a specialist of climate change mitigation in the land use and forestry sector and in assessing the sustainability and ecological impacts of land use/ land cover change. She has over nine years experience in international proposal development and project implementation of climate change mitigation and land use impact projects. She has worked with projects in Brazil, Belize, Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mexico, Mozambique, Peru, Tanzania, and Vietnam. Dr. Walker provides technical assistance in the design and implementation of greenhouse gas emission reduction projects including afforestation /reforestation, improved forest management, and avoided emissions projects. Dr. Walker is an expert in the regulations surrounding the regulatory (CDM) and voluntary carbon market (VCS, CCB, ACR). She is an author of a number of carbon measurement and monitoring methodologies including afforestation, avoided deforestation, avoided peat emissions, and estimation of the impact of selective logging. She has also been author on carbon project development and monitoring technical guidance manuals and trainings for the World Bank, International Tropical Timber Organization, Conservation International, TNC, WWF, and WCS.
