Rane Cortez

From 2007-2010, Rane led the Conservancy’s international policy work on Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation (REDD+) and worked on policy issues related to the design, development, and implementation of large-scale REDD+ programs. Rane also led a multi-NGO REDD+ training initiative which created resources for building capacity of REDD+ practitioners, such as indigenous people, NGOs, and local and national government agencies, and helped lead trainings in six countries. From 2010-2011 Rane was based in Belém, Brazil where she supported the design and implementation of an 11-million hectare REDD+ pilot program in the Amazon. Rane is currently based in Merida, Mexico as the Technical Director of the M-REDD+ Program.
