Michael Richards

Natural Resources Economist with Forest Trends, currently in Honduras (2010), and working particularly on social impact assessment of land based carbon projects. Previous work as an independent consultant, with Overseas Development Institute (Research Fellow 1993-2001), and on long-term contracts for UK government (Mexico, Honduras, Sri Lanka and Malawi from 1977 to 1990); also strong West Africa (Ghana) and some East Africa experience. Main thematic experience on forest policy, economics and governance issues, especially related to participatory forest management, and increasingly in the area of payments for ecosystem services. PhD by Publication from University of Glamorgan, Wales, and MSc in Agricultural Economics from University of London.
