MaryKate Hanlon conducts eco product policy analysis and forest carbon project development with a specialty in REDD (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation). With a background in environmental anthropology, ecotourism and tropical ecology, MaryKate has recently worked on REDD projects in the Andes and Amazon regions and supported community engagement activities and route to market analysis for carbon and biodiversity projects in Indonesia and Malaysia. Before joining New Forests, she was the Communications Director at Avoided Deforestation Partners, an international non-profit focusing on private sector involvement in REDD activities. MaryKate has a B.A. in Anthropological Sciences (Honours) with a minor in Biology and a Master's in Latin American Studies from Stanford University. She is based in San Francisco.
