My main research focus concerns tropical forest dynamics and plant ecology. Despite revived societal and scientific interest in the fate of tropical forests ecosystems, very little is known about their role in the global carbon cycle and how they will respond to climate change. I therefore endeavored to study the response of complex forest ecosystems to natural disturbances, working at different scales, from local niche partitioning to large scale biomass dynamics. I set up field experiments in various forest types (Dipterocarp forests in Borneo, caatinga in Brazil and moist forests in French Guiana) and handled large data bases.
Additionally, I have long been involved in environmental associations and acquired good knowledge in project development, vulgarization and teaching (Academic level).
