Bernardo Lazo

Bernardo specialises in providing strategic advice in the structuring and development of environmental projects and programmes, as well as in advising on new environmental financing instruments, particularly related to climate change mitigation and energy generation. His international experience extends to working in projects in UK, China, South East Asia and Latin America.

His career started at Arthur D. Little and Protego Asesores in Mexico as strategic consultant in energy and infrastructure. Then he worked for six years at EcoSecurities, a leading carbon offset developer, where he implemented biogas projects in landfills worldwide under the regulated and voluntary carbon markets, as well as advised corporate clients on measuring and offsetting their carbon footprint. He also served as portfolio manager in the voluntary and new markets team at EcoSecurities, managing one of the largest voluntary carbon portfolios in the industry.

Bernardo is currently director and co-founder of Ithaca Environmental Ventures, an independent consulting firm specialising in providing technical and strategic advice on climate change mitigation and adaptation, environmental finance and sustainable energy.

Bernardo holds a M.Sc. in Environmental Technology at Imperial College where he specialised on energy and carbon policies. His first degree is in mechanical engineering from ITESM in Mexico City.
