Arikpo Arikpo is presently a Commissioner with the Cross River State Forestry Commission Calabar. He Heads the Community and Private Forestry and Planning, Research and Statistics Department. He has over fifteen years experience working in the Nigerian NGO sub sector especially in the Niger Delta. He has been a volunteer, an employee and a media consultant to different organisation including the Okwangwo division of the Cross River National Park as managed by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).

In the course of his work, Arikpo has held key leadership positions within the NGO sector and with the Cross River State Government. He holds a B.A degree in Theatre Arts, and an MFA degree in Media and Performing Arts of the University of Calabar. He has also acquired several certificates and experience in development work including the West and North Yorkshire Open College Network Certificate in Environment and Community Development, and a Living Earth Foundation, UK Diploma in Professional Development (Environmental Education), as Validated by the University of Bath.

Through out this period he has been involved in the formulation, identification, appraisal, monitoring & evaluation of communication processes in both rural and urban environments. Before joining the NGO sub sector, he worked with several broadcasting organisations including the Nigerian Television Authority NTA Sokoto, Akwa Ibom Broadcasting Corporation, Uyo and Cross River Broadcasting Corporation, Calabar.

Arikpo has acquired proven experience working effectively with oil and non oil producing communities in the Niger Delta, forest communities, governments at all levels, NGOs and CBOs with excellent interpersonal, organizational, analytical and negotiations skills.
As the former Executive Director, he retained the overall responsibility for the day to day management of Living Earth Nigeria Foundation, articulating and implementing strategies that strengthen the Foundations capacity in Nigeria.

Today, Arikpo is a Commissioner with the Cross River State Forestry Commission in charge of North East of the State and supervising the Community and Private Forestry, Planning, Research and Statistics Departments. He was appointed by His Excellency the Governor of Cross River state in 2009.

His Career objective has been to bring his experience to bear while developing people’s ideas, skills and self confidence in resolving environmental and developmental issues that affect them.
