Daniel Sprod The Tasmanian Land Conservancy is an Australian registered environmental organisation. We raise funds from the public to protect irreplaceable sites, endangered species' habitats, and rare ecosystems by buying and managing private land. Our vision is for Tasmania to be a global leader in nature conservation and sustainability. Of the three ways we protect land for biodiversity, the best known is our program of permanent reserves – land which we raise money to buy, and then to manage in perpetuity. We also operate revolving funds to purchase, protect and then re-sell the covenanted property to new owners keen to protect it for conservation. In this way we free up capital to invest into the next property. It is an approach to conserving biodiversity that uses every precious dollar over and over again. Thirdly the TLC works with landowners to protect critical ecological values on their own properties. Our programs work in partnership with the Tasmanian and Australian governments and corporate sponsors and cover a range of activities all designed to conserve vital habitat on privately owned land.
